On August 23, 2024, Texas joined by fifteen (15) U.S. states filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court challenging the newly established Parole-in-Place, President Biden’s Executive Order. The lawsuit, which was filed in the Eastern District of Texas, is for a temporary restraining order, preliminary injunction, and stay of agency action challenging the implementation of Parole-in-Place also known as Keeping Families Together.
While the lawsuit is pending, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services will continue to accept and adjudicate applications until a court order prohibits them from doing so.
