On July 4, 2025, U.S. President Trump signed into law a Reconciliation Bill passed by both houses of Congress. Among many U.S. immigration-related provisions, the Bill includes new fees for various immigration-related applications. In most cases, these fees are in addition to existing fees.
The fees listed are minimum fees that could increase by regulation and annually for inflation. In most instances, the fees are not waivable. Fees will take effect immediately under the statute; however, there may be delays in collection as the government operationalizes payment.
For Taiwan Nationals, the most impact will be seen in an increase to the ESTA Fee for the Visa Waiver Program. Applicants applying online for their ESTA approval will need to pay US$40 for their application. It is uncertain when this fee will go into effect.
